Sold the Scotty...
B*gJim13 said: So money has been tight lately and just found out the wife needs $700 worth of shocks on her car-don't get me started on that. Anyway I sold my Scotty Studio Select-for more than I paid for it, getting good at this ebay deal- and bought a cheap brass putter head from golfsmith. I also picked up a 200g putter shaft, just for fun. Total spent-$31 shipped. The scary thing about it is that I cannot feel much of a difference between the $300 scotty and this $31 brassy. It rolls the ball nicely too so go figure. It should be noted that my putting is my strength in my game and I could probably putt as well with a stapler on a stick....anyway here are a few pics....

I too bought into the Cameron hype and honestly, the Red-X that I had was the worst putter Ive ever owned. It just sucks that money is tight and you had to sell your Cameron. Everything happens for a reason though, so maybe the universe wanted you to learn the lesson that you expensive clubs dont make you a better player.

I never thought the Cameron made me a better putter. I really liked the look and feel of it. Money is tight, but its just a putter and I can find another one. Funny though with a few tweeks I think I can get this putter feeling as good as the scotty.

How dare you!!!!!! I don't care whether it's a putter or a driver... a wedge or a set of irons... $$$$ CAN buy a better game! If that's not a true, unrefutable fact, we who so diligently spend all our hard earned money to stock out bags... or basements... and our garages... will be sorely disappointed!! If my wife's car needed repairs... or my wife, herself, needed repairs... Man! You MUST assess your prioities! Tell you what. Lock your Scotty and your wife in the car trunk for an hour. Open the trunk and see which is happiest to see you! I did that with my wife and my dog to see which was really man's best friend. The dog seemed much more appreciative of me when I let them out. I told the wife I would remember how inappreciative she was the next time I had to choose between new clubs and getting her an anniversary or birthday present!!!:dead:

Anyway, trust me I thought long and hard about selling the Scotty. In the end I just felt bad having a $300 putter sitting in my bag when the car needs $700+ in repairs. I can putt just as well with anything and have said so right along, I never claimed the Scotty made me a better putter mind you. Anyway the $31 putter from Golfsmith isn't all that bad to be honest...

That's ok, you can have my Scotty when you pry it from my cold dead fingers. :D :shark:

Meant no disrespect. One of the guys that joins our group on a regular basis has a "putt putt" putter. (At least, that's what we call it!) There's no name on it. It's shaped like an old Bullseye. Has some yellow paint chips on the top of it. Is beat to smithereeeenns. The grip actually has some old, black, electrical friction tape wrapped around the bottom of the grip where part of the grip went missing. He picked the putter up for 50 cents at a garage sale for his kid... about 7 or 8 years ago. And, the putter never made it to the kid's bag!!!! We kid him, all the time, while he beats the tar out of us... most of the difference in scores being on the green. It's not the name or the look of the putter. It's what ever gets the ball into the hole in the fewest number of strokes.

Cameron putters are the standard against which other putters are measured. You constantly see the phrase "my ______ is just as good as a Scotty". Recognizing my obvious bias toward Camerons, my Palombi is just as good as a Scotty.

I also like it. It will be a hard choice to make between the Darby and this brass one since the darby has treated me well over the years.
