*rishGolfer said: Recently my driving has been eratic. The last few evennings I have been out for a few holes with my kids carrying a half set. So I have thrown in my my old Maltby CT250 which has a slightly abused VS Proto By You 70S shaft in it that (the tip is frayed from a clumsy pull job). Last two times out I have been killing it, DEAD straight and long. My irons have been only so-so, so it's not as if I could have hit anything. I know I am living on borrowed time with the shaft as I fully expect it to shatter any time soon. But all of a sudden I'm now thinking that my back-up driver gets promoted to the main bag. And that I need to bag a new By You or something else. Really surprising that the UL540 is similar to the Proto By You. The club certainly feels heavier (70g v. 66g) and it says it is a 2.8 v. 2.5 torque. Any of you shaft gurus recommned another shaft to try? I am a smooth transition swinger. I usually hit around 100mph swing speed. I carry about 235-245 and run out to 250-260. I prefer a mid launch I am looking for a 65-68g weight band.

I'd also put a vote in for an XCON 6. That's a great shaft if you generate any type of spin. Judging from being able to handle the VS Proto 70, you can swing this as well. They make a VS Proto in 60g as well that i think is their best shaft in that line. R35

R35 That's all I have in my drivers now. (Down to two! Well, three but I don't use that one...) The real deal. A ul780 signature in the Bstone and 540 limey tipped a bunch in the 425tp.

A CT250 7W + that shaft = dam good. real dam good. and as of today's range session: a Maltby Mr. Big 505 + Memphis 10 steel = as good/better than any of my other 5 or 6 drivers, with various shafts. MAN UP, and go STEEL. Dare ya.
