Will a 56 degree SW...
C*se said: Im looking into buying a CG12 DSG 56* SW. Will i be able to get the ball up and down easily? I play at gay courses in NY that have hardly any bunkers but i like SW's because they can get the ball to stick on the green. So am i making a good decision by getting a 56*?

Yes you can get the ball up quicker and land it softer with a 56º over your 48º. For a shorter shot you'll have to open the club face up more, but it should work out fine. I use a 60º myself, but I wouldn't advise jumping from a 48º to a 60º. To big of a gap there.

fl*ggerrushmd said: +1 on the vokey, my 56* is my go to club and outside of having to really flop a shot most every chip can be hit successfully with this one club. You definitely need something under your PW, and as you get used to the 56* you will probably want to add a 52 and 60* to the mix.

If you're not hitting out of bunkers much, I would really advise AGAINST the SW. Any higher-loft wedge WILL hit the ball higher and stop it faster, but 56* wedges tend to have a lot of BOUNCE angle. If you're primarily using this wedge off of the fairway, you would be better off with something low-bounce. Also, if you're generally just chipping with it, you can get a 60* and not worry about the yardage gap, since you won't really it on full swings. Really, you'd like something like 48, 54, 60. Or 48, 52, 56, 60. Read the book, "The Art of the Short Game" for a great read on different wedges and how they work. It startles me how many people really don't understand wedges.
