OBAN Golf shafts hit the big time @@

V*ctory said: OBAN golf shaft company has a BIG name hitting their shaft this week at the Quail Hollow event in charlotte.. Yes Tiger Woods has put the companies MACH shaft in his driver. MACH PROTO 85 X-STIFF is what the worlds #1 is hitting. the 85 gram is not made for retail use yet- only the 75 gram. good feather in their cap as the company is only a few years old. more to come and you guy/gals are lucky as your sponsor here is a dealer!! feel free to ask me any question on the three lines.. and what they play close to. 1) REVENGE - mid/high launch - green color 2) DEVOTION - mid launch -blue color 3) MACH - low spin/launch -- silver white colorGolf Components :: Shafts :usflag:

Cl*gnut said: OK, we need a serious 411 on these. I have heard the name, and heard "things", good things. What's different, and how is it better? Price looks decent for an exotic shaft. Where are they made?

R*ckford35 said: 5 fairways tho? I guess that's kinda good for Tiger. :D R35

wrx_j*nki said: Wonder if he'll use the same shaft today.

sl*ckpitt said: Wait.. I thought he had a VooDoo in play on Thursday and yesteday's highlights I swore he was back to his Whiteboard???

sl*ckpitt said: Nevermind! They just look similar! The Shop Blog: Tiger Woods Testing New Driver Shafts I'm impressed!

No, i'll do it, you guys just sit back, relax, chill out while I do all the work. Maybe something in a NAK head. 9.5*ish, 45", Golf Pride grip.....:D R35

R*ckford35 said: Ken has pushed me on this several times in the past. I've always been interested in them since they debuted last year and have always wanted to try one. Just never seen one and never heard of a distributor having them until now. I'm pretty happy with my F6 right now, but I'm always in for testing and reporting on new stuff if it gets guys salivating....:thumbs up: R35

J*rmour said: When I look at the specs why does it say the tip size is .34?

V*ctory said: demo -- mmm. we why not you bastards!! i'll work something up.. all tip size's are .335 - must be a typo some where. Oban has been in buisness for a few years now- owners have been in the business for years.. not 100% on all info-- but they have worked for aldila, fujikura, graohite design -- soo years of experience in the graphite shaft industry.. just pimped the R9 yesterday.. Rev7 45'' with orange/green cap iomic* the CARAT stik gets play today!!! later

w*rehair said: Ruh Roe, Raggy... Tiger hits driver twice, both shots cost him a stroke. He probably lost at least 1 more stroke because he couldn't hit his driver. Tiger finished 2 behind. Oban probably ought to give some thought to not mentioning this.:faintthud

*xtremeVFT03 said: he was hitting the three wood pretty good :)

sl*ckpitt said: So did he change shafts from round to round? Faldo mentioned something to that effect. If he did that's pretty surprising.

He played a Voodoo 85g on Wed. On Thursday and Friday, he went to the OBAN and hit 30% of the fairways. Switched back to the Whiteboard for Sat and Sun, and hit his 3W the VAST majority of the holes because he couldn't hit the driver straight worth a shit. Str8 Fit. Great idea. :biglol: R35

cl*msonhacker said: these sahfts sound interesting...might have make a trip up to see ken in a few weeks

R*ckford35 said: I don't get why these guys need 46" shafts and 110% on every swing. With the amount of clubhead speed they generate, swing at 44" and hit every fairway at 300 instead of 325 into the bush. Makes no sense, other than the fact that most courses they play on have zero trouble left or right by comparison. R35

If you watch guys like Phil or Tiger when they swing at 80-90% they hit it much more on line and still hit 280-300. Tiger was money with his 3w, what is the difference from that to his driver? It has to be more than the added length of the shaft... I don't know...

Y*ungun5 said: I say he should go back to steel, honestly. or like you said, tone it back to 80%. you'll watch him hit the longest drive on the hole that day and look effortless doing it....why he feels the need to swing out of his shoes is beyond me.
